Last Updated: July 30, 2026
1. WELCOME & ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS
Welcome to Compass Church Monterey County ("Compass Church," "we," "our," or "us") (legal name: First Presbyterian Church of Salinas, California). We are a multi-campus Christian church serving Salinas and Monterey County, California, with locations at our Padre Drive campus, Main St. campus, and Marina/Seaside campus. Our heart is to help people follow Jesus and to connect your story to God's story.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") explain the ground rules for using our website at www.compasschurchmc.org and for taking part in our online tools, events, and ministry programs, including when you:
- Browse our website or watch our live services and past sermons online
- Submit a form (Plan a Visit, Plan an Event, Prayer Request, volunteer and event sign-ups, etc.)
- Register for LifeGroups, Women's and Men's Bible studies, School of Ministry classes, baptism classes, or other ministry programs
- Register a child or student for our children's and youth ministries
- Give online
- Subscribe to our emails or text message updates
By using our website or participating in our online services and programs, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the website. These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy.
2. WHO MAY USE THIS WEBSITE
Everyone is welcome to visit our website and learn about Compass Church. To submit forms, give, or enter into any agreement with us, you must be at least 18 years old and have the legal authority to do so.
If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete forms, registrations, and gifts on your behalf. Parents and guardians are responsible for the information they provide for their children and for supervising their children's use of our website.
3. OUR MINISTRY AND THIS WEBSITE
This website is a ministry tool. It shares service times, campus information, sermons, prayer and Bible reminders, event details, and ways to get connected. We work hard to keep everything accurate and current, but schedules, locations, and programs can change, especially for seasonal events such as the Annual Fall Festival, Christmas on Main St., Celebrate America, and the Easter Egg Drop.
Please confirm details with the church office when planning around a specific date or time.
Sermons, devotionals, Bible study lessons, sermon notes, and prayer reminders are shared for spiritual encouragement and education. They are not a substitute for professional legal, medical, financial, or mental health advice, and they are not a replacement for personal pastoral care. If you are in crisis or facing an emergency, please call 911 or contact a qualified professional right away. Our pastors and ministry leaders are always glad to talk and pray with you.
4. CONTENT, COPYRIGHT & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Compass Church and its licensors own the content on this website, including sermons and live stream recordings, sermon notes and slides, Life Group lessons, written articles, graphics, logos (including ministry and event logos such as Compass Kids, C.R.A.S.H., and the Fall Festival), photos, and video.
You are welcome to:
- View and watch our content for your personal, non-commercial use
- Download sermon notes and Life Group lessons for personal study or for use in your own small group
- Share links to our website, sermons, and events with friends and family
Please do not:
- Copy, republish, sell, or edit our content or recordings for commercial purposes
- Re-broadcast or re-upload our services in a way that suggests they come from another organization
- Use the Compass Church name or logos without our written permission
Some worship music, Scripture translations, and third-party materials are used under license and remain the property of their owners. If you believe any content on our website infringes your intellectual property, please write to us at jasmine@compasschurchmc.org. We will promptly review your concern and, if appropriate, remove or disable access to the material.
5. ACCEPTABLE USE
We want our website to be a safe, encouraging place for our church family and for visitors. When you use it, you agree not to:
- Use the website in any way that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, harassing, or hateful
- Submit false, misleading, or someone else's information through our forms, or submit information about another person without their permission
- Use our prayer request, contact, or event forms to send spam, advertising, or solicitations
- Attempt to hack, overload, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the website, its accounts, or its systems
- Use data mining, scraping, or similar methods to collect information from the website or about our members and visitors
- Interrupt, disrupt, or misuse our live stream or any online chat or comment feature
- Use the website for commercial advertising or marketing without our written approval
We may remove content, block access, or decline a registration if these rules are not followed, and we may cooperate with law enforcement when required.
6. FORMS, REGISTRATIONS & PRAYER REQUESTS
When you submit a form, you agree that the information you give us is accurate and that we may use it to follow up with you as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Plan a Visit and Contact forms: a team member from the appropriate campus may reach out to welcome you and answer your questions.
- Ministry and class registrations (LifeGroups, School of Ministry, baptism classes, workshops): submitting a form expresses your interest. It does not guarantee a spot, as some groups and classes have limited space or requirements.
- Prayer requests: our prayer team and pastoral staff treat requests with care and confidentiality. If you ask us to share your request more widely, we will do so only as you direct. Please do not include details about other people that they have not agreed to share.
- Event, facility, wedding, and memorial inquiries (Plan an Event page): an inquiry is not a reservation. A date is held only once it is confirmed in writing by our staff, and facility use may be subject to additional guidelines, scheduling, and fees.
7. CHILDREN & YOUTH MINISTRIES
The safety of every child and student is one of our highest priorities. We serve children and students through Kids Club Preschool (birth through Kindergarten), Compass Kids Elementary (1st to 5th grade), Lift Off Middle School Ministry (6th to 8th grade), and C.R.A.S.H. High School Ministry (9th to 12th grade).
By registering a child or student, a parent or legal guardian agrees that:
- They have legal authority to register the child and give consent for participation
- The registration information, including emergency contacts and any health, allergy, or safety details, is complete and accurate, and they will keep it updated
- They will follow the check-in and check-out procedures of the ministry they are using
- They will stay reachable, or leave a reachable emergency contact, while their child is in our care
- Children and students are expected to follow ministry guidelines, and we may contact a parent or guardian if a child needs to be picked up or if behavior or health concerns arise
In a medical emergency, our staff and volunteers will call 911 and then contact the parent or guardian immediately.
8. VOLUNTEERS & SERVING
We are grateful for everyone who serves through Serve with Us, the Fall Festival, community outreach, children's and youth ministries, and more. Submitting a volunteer form is an expression of interest, not a guarantee of a role.
To protect those in our care, certain roles, especially those involving children and youth, require a Live Scan background check and completion of our ministry onboarding. We may decline or end a volunteer placement when we believe it is in the best interest of the people we serve. Volunteers agree to follow ministry guidelines and to represent Christ and Compass Church with integrity.
9. ONLINE GIVING & DONATIONS
Giving to Compass Church is always voluntary, and we are thankful for your generosity. Gifts support our ministries, our campuses, our outreach to the Salinas and Monterey County community, and projects such as the Compass Foundation.
- Gifts are processed by secure third-party payment providers. Their terms and privacy practices apply to the payment itself, and we do not store your full payment card numbers.
- Please make sure the payment information you provide is accurate and that you are authorized to use the payment method.
- Recurring gifts continue until you cancel or change them through the giving platform or by contacting our office.
- Gifts given for a specific ministry or fund will be used for that purpose where possible. If a need is met or a project cannot be completed, we may use the gift for a similar ministry purpose.
- Gifts are generally considered final and non-refundable. If you believe a gift was made in error, please contact us promptly and we will gladly help.
- We provide giving statements for your records. Please consult your own tax advisor about the tax treatment of your gifts.
If you purchase any item or event ticket through the website, you will be shown the details and price before you complete the purchase.
10. EVENTS, VENDORS & COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Many of our community events, such as the Annual Fall Festival, are free and open to everyone. By attending or taking part in a Compass Church event or outreach, you agree to:
- Follow the directions of event staff and volunteers, and treat others with respect and kindness
- Take responsibility for the safety and supervision of your own children and belongings, unless they are registered in a program that provides care
- Understand that activities such as games, bounce houses, pony rides, and similar attractions carry inherent risks, and that you take part at your own risk
- Understand that event details, activities, and vendors may change, and that events may be modified, rescheduled, or canceled due to weather, safety, or other circumstances
Vendors and activity stage participants who apply through our website are subject to approval. Submitting an application does not guarantee a spot, and accepted participants must follow the guidelines provided by our event team.
11. PHOTOS, VIDEO & LIVE STREAMING
We livestream and record our services, and we photograph and film events and ministry activities to share the story of what God is doing at Compass Church. By attending a service or event at any of our campuses, you understand that you may appear in photos, video, or livestreams used on our website, social media, and ministry materials.
If you prefer that you or your child not be photographed or filmed, please let a staff member know or contact our office, and we will do our best to honor your request. Please do not photograph or record other people's children without permission.
12. EMAIL & TEXT MESSAGE (SMS) COMMUNICATIONS
If you opt in, we may send you emails and text messages with ministry updates, event reminders, and announcements. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email, and you can opt out of texts by replying STOP. Message and data rates may apply. For full details, please read our
SMS Terms of Service.

Our website may link to third-party sites and services, such as online giving platforms, video and social media platforms (including Facebook and Instagram), and partner ministries. 16. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Compass Church Monterey County and its pastors, elders, board members, staff, and volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of this website or your participation in our events and programs. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under California law.
17. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to hold harmless Compass Church Monterey County and its leaders, staff, and volunteers from claims, losses, and expenses that result from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the website.
18. ELECTRONIC AGREEMENT
When you click "I agree," "I consent," "Submit," or a similar button or checkbox on our website, you agree to the related terms, and that action is the legal equivalent of your handwritten signature.
19. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. We encourage anyone with a concern to speak with us first so we can work things out in a spirit of goodwill. If a dispute cannot be resolved that way, it will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Monterey County, California.
20. GENERAL PROVISIONS
- Severability: if any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- Entire agreement: these Terms and our Privacy Policy are the full agreement between you and Compass Church regarding your use of this website.

- Local restrictions: this website is intended for use where it is lawful, and you are responsible for following the laws that apply to you.
21. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
As our ministry, programs, and digital tools grow, we may update these Terms. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will try to give at least 30 days' notice. Continued use of our website or ministry programs after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
