Director of Senior’s Ministry

Born into a Christian Family, my Father was a Pastor in the Lutheran Church and my Mother was a Musician, Choir Director & organist. I was taught from an early age to love the Lord, but I had to make my relationship with the Lord my own. That took some soul searching and growth on my part.
Aside from my 45-year Career as a Meteorologist, a few highlights of my Christian Walk include: I taught Catechisms classes and participated in Church activities. We did a year-long class called Walking through the Bible, and I was on Church Counsel. As our sons grew, Jean and I lead the Youth groups and scheduled weekend retreats to the Mountains that included in-depth Bible Studies. I have participated on the Worship Team and in the Choir. We have always continued our Christian Education and participated in weekly Bible studies. Church activities were a main focus for our family.
We moved to the Monterey area in 1994 and became members of Compass in 1995. Since coming to Compass, I have sung in the Choir, helped with Men’s Bible Study, sung on the Worship team for many years and have recently helped to lead the Padre and Marina Services.
I have continued to Grow in the Lord. My prayer life has been vitally important in my growth. After our elder son got sick and I retired from the station, I have been praying that the Lord would lead me and that He would use me for the remainder of my life to serve Him.
I have had to dig deeper in my faith than ever before since our son fought cancer and finally went to be with the Lord in 2016. I know that God is Sovereign and that He loves us all, no matter what the circumstances. When this opportunity was offered to be Pastor to Seniors, I felt the Holy Spirit was leading me to serve Him. A few of the many verses that I have relied on for the past few years is 1 Thessalonians 5:18-22: “Be joyful always. Pray continually: give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not put out the Spirit’s fire: do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything, hold on to good and avoid every kind of evil.”
