Missionary Prayer Requests
Dan and Krista Coyan - dancoyan@aol.com
Dan (me): Life continues in these strange times. It’s been a challenging year, seeing both my wife and daughter spending many months in the psychiatric hospital. But I remain eternally optimistic, and know that God is in control. I am so thankful that we were “forced” to buy a house two years ago when the landlord sold our rental. While it didn’t look like much, after a long time of repair and reconstruction we are happy here and have made several connections in our new village. Prices have spiraled out of control, and had we waited, we would not have been able to afford anything.
Krista: 2021 was a rollercoaster year for Krista. She spent the first five months in the psychiatric hospital as I explained in previous letters. Years of stress from so many things – the house fire, police investigation, our daughter’s suicide attempts and subsequent hospitalization, being in charge of the sexual assault investigation at her school, and trying to be “Miss Perfect” – broke her down at the beginning of the year. Coupled with summer neck injury and subsequent hospitalization, it has been very challenging. But these experiences have also given her a new perspective on life, and for those suffering with similar conditions.
Rebekah: This year looks to be a brand-new start for our oldest daughter, who just turned 24. She lived on her own for most of the year after coming home from long-term treatment. She worked in a nearby town in the mountains, working in a grocery store and as a housecleaner on the weekends. Her doctor sent her back to the psychiatric hospital in the fall for follow-up treatment, and she was just released yesterday. She will stay with us for a week, and then move into an assisted-living apartment in the big city of Ceske Budejovice. She plans to start working again and hopes to attend university next fall.
Roxie: Roxie continues her studies in Scotland, at the University of Aberdeen. She is in her second year, and is able to live there, unlike last year when it was remote-learning only. She has been with us for the holidays and will return next week to Scotland.
Thank you all for your many years of prayers and support. As you know, we both followed Paul’s “tentmaker” model to make up for lowered support. We ask for your prayers in this time, as our support just dropped starting this month by over $500, and Krista’s salary dropped by over 30% due to her reduced working hours and illness. If you feel led to help us, you can find more information here: https://missionstream.org/missionary/coyan
We hope you are all doing well, and love to receive messages (or better yet, visits).
Dan
Confidence Pregnancy Center - confidencepc@sbcglobal.net
Confidence Pregnancy Center could use prayer particularly on a donor matter that we need wisdom. We always need prayer for people to know Christ, and staff to be willing to present the Gospel with courage. Prayer also that God will open up opportunities for women who are contemplating abortion, and that they would find our place. We value the relationship we have in prayer with Compass.
Dorothy’s Place - dorothysplace.org
All the good we do is because of YOU. Please help! This year has been a rough one and we need to build our strength to serve in an upcoming year of great change and transition. Thank you for having our backs!
Jacob and Caellin Douglas -
jacob.douglas@athletesinaction.org
Short term
- Caellin and I to find the time and space to really invest in our marriage. Covid has definitely taken its toll on us. We are surviving, but really desire to be thriving again!
- God’s blessing on our youth sports pods and expansion into Youth Dance Pods. We need to find a location in Sacramento to host Dance Pods and need to find favor with the City or County for the Sport Pods.
- Continued wisdom and discernment with regards to launching in person ministry in a pandemic world.
Long Term
- For Kelsey and I to continue to lead well together.
- - For our team to grow, giving us the capacity to minister more effectively to athletes at William Jessup and the surrounding Community Colleges. Specifically that our new staff would have a year that leaves them desiring to come back to our team.
Gideons International Salinas Camp -

Our main prayer is that our God would allow more members and funds to provide more scriptures to our lost world.
Rod and Tina Struiksma, Directors for Ranch Santa Marta
ranchosantamarta@cox.netcox.net
Thank you for your prayer support. The biggest prayer request would be for God to call our teachers and staff to a closer relationship with Him. Some of our teachers and staff are not Christians so first for their salvation and then for those who have made a decision to follow Christ to have God draw everyone closer to Him. You can also pray for Tina and myself for the decisions we have to make with children and staff and for the whole ministry. Thank you again and have a fantastic Christmas and New Year. Blessings, Rod y Tina
Jim and Debbie Samland -

Here’s how you can pray for us.
Please pray for Ukraine. Our staff have all moved to Western Ukraine and some have been called up to the army. We also pray that our staff in Moldova will not be affected, as the region of Transnistria is a breakaway Republic within Moldova that has strong ties to Russia.
This Saturday I will be leading a seminar on “How to Study the Bible” to about 40 of our leading students at Miami. Please pray that it will be helpful to these students as they lead their own small group Bible studies.
Pray that we can continue to find open professors who have time to go through a 10-minute interview on their philosophies and beliefs.
Pray that we can encourage and build into the 4 Christian professors with whom Debbie and I are currently working.
Pray that our son Marc will be able to complete army ranger school in Ft. Benning Georgia. He has completed the first two phases, but has another 6 weeks ahead of him. Pray that he can get through the 2-4 hours of sleep each night plus the 2 meals per day he receives. He has been in good spirits, but it is grueling training.
Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement!
We are sure that you have heard the news today regarding Ukraine. After ministering in that part of the world for over 33 years, it has hit us hard.
We know so many people personally who have been affected by this conflict. We have Russian and Belarussian friends and dear Ukrainian friends who have packed their bags and are at this moment now fleeing to the west to avoid the bombing. In addition, at least two of our Ukrainian staff were called up three weeks ago as reservists to serve in the military. Yesterday, Debbie talked to one of our Moldovan staff members whom she is still discipling. She related that many Moldovans are afraid that Russia will seize this opportunity to invade Transnistria, a part of Moldova that has strong ties to Russia. Today there were in fact reports that shelling occurred near the border.
Jim’s relatives in Poland have been very concerned about the situation. Early his morning Anna called us and was upset, as she was concerned about the safety of her friends in Ukraine, whom she has known since childhood.
It has been a hard, emotional, and unsettling day. Let’s keep praying for peace and for the Lord to intervene in miraculous ways. As we pray for this situation, we are reminded of Psalm 2 and that no matter what countries may do, God reigns supreme and will have the last word. His plans will not be thwarted and in the end, His justice will triumph.
Psalm 2:1-6
Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.
5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6 “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”
Stanley and Amalia Smith -
slsmith473@sbcglobal.net
We would like to ask for prayer for my health (Amalia). Stan had the COVID during the month of Dec. and early Jan. He is well now, and I have had it for 4 weeks now, I do not feel very well and would appreciate your prayers please. I have committed myself to start teaching a group of women in
Romania by Messenger, and I have renewed my bible study here at home and with the young people also in Romania. Please pray for wisdom, energy, and that I can get completely well. Always very grateful for your prayers, your encouragement, we are getting to be very old, years have gone by so fast, but we desire to serve the Lord as long as we can, there are many opportunities, more than we can commit to do, we pray for the young generations to respond to the assignment from Jesus "to go and make disciples of Jesus" Much love and tears as we think about each of you.
Karl and Jenny Teichert -
karlteichert@oci.org
Please continue to pray for God’s protection from the new Omicron variant. An increasing number of our friends and neighbors are becoming COVID positive here in South Africa. Travel restrictions have affected many plans for the holidays. We are currently well and are celebrating the wedding of our son Stephen and Dani yesterday here in Johannesburg!
Thank you for your faithful prayers and partnership in God’s kingdom!
Hank & Mona Paulson -
hank@4dministies.org
Prayer requests on our end:
Especially the Russian/Belarus/Ukraine situation. Already we hear that people are searching for God more than before and receptive to His great gift. There is a lot of uncertainty in the air.
Also pray for our trip (Hank and Mona) planned to be back in Europe. Lord willing we will leave mid April and back the last day of May. Two strategic multi day conferences. One at the beginning and one at the end. And lots of meetings, plus some vacation to refresh.
Of course also pray for the preparations for camps in 7 countries this year with more than 6,000 kids attending. Facilities, programs, finances, trained leaders and helpers and so much more.
Please pray for the people, and especially our friends and partners in Christ, both in Ukraine and surrounding countries.
Pray especially for the leaders in government and those leading the churches throughout the region. Some churches have started to provide hospitality and help to those displaced and impacted.
Uncertainty is great. None of our friends are a direct target at this time.
Uganda Short Term Mission with CMC
Please continue to pray that Compass Church will be able to send short-term missionaries to Uganda to plant churches next summer with CMC - church multiplication coalition.
In the meantime we used the funds ($5,000) that would have been used for this year’s mission trip for the purpose of starting Rural Pastor Training Centers in Uganda to train 30-40 people to plant churches and to pastor those churches. Please pray for the following:
1. Jonathan (CMC) has agreed to send half, and then the other half 5 months later.
2. Godfrey has started four training centers in Uganda.
3. Mike Tyrrel will try to raise another $5,000 through his supporters.
4. Mike T. is trying to build a bridge to the Luis Palau Association for more funding.
5. Should Mike T. raise another $5,000, Godfrey should consider another country where two centers would make sense.
6. Mike T. trusts the pastors doing the training would be fairly compensated for their effort.
Thank you for expanding God's Kingdom on earth.
